Don’t tell the Bride…Pfft! Grooms book weddings too.

Wedding Reality Shows… You’ve got to love them huh? Apparently every girl has dreamt of a fairytale, princess wedding since they were young. Apparently only the bride gets to choose the design/theme/colours for the wedding day. Apparently a wedding day can be ruined by allowing the Groom to have any input at all. What would he know about weddings?

Pfft! Almost half of the 100 weddings I’ve officiated have been organised by the Groom!
In fact this week, I have been talking all things wedding with a number of different Grooms.
I love it. No fuss. Straight to the point.
Happy wife, happy life.

Ladies, it’s is really important to remember that marriage is a partnership. It involves compromise and if he wants to organise things for your wedding he has just as much right to do so. Let’s not forget that chances are high that he proposed. The whole thing was most likely started by him when he asked you to marry him. It’s not something that should be treated as a novelty. Belittling your future spouse’s abilities before marriage may not lead to that ‘happily ever after’.

I understand that there are guys who are happy to just sign the paperwork, turn up on the day, say what they have to, then leave. I’m completely cool with that if that’s what you both want. BUT, if your Groom wants to be the one who takes control on the big day, then you’ve found the right Celebrant.
