Our annual vow renewal photo shoot with Caspix

For those who read my blog regularly (Hi Mum), you’ll know that my husband Paul and I have a tradition of an annual photo shoot. 2010 was a tough year for us as a married couple. Family commitments meant we were living 1000km apart from each other for 10 months. Our Caspix Sunday Session was a great kick start to our year to reconnect with photos and fun. Casandra from Caspix Photography and Tanya Watts from Bodacious Hair & Make-up helped make our day fabulous. I even managed to put on enough weight last year to fit back into my Wedding Day Jeans for the shoot! You don’t hear of too many brides who can say that ;-)

Our day was fantastic! We spent more time preparing for the photos than we did when we eloped. I splurged on a manicure and pedicure in the morning. Paul had his haircut. I had Tanya of Bodacious spend almost 2 hours pampering me with hair and makeup styling. Paul sat in the car and read the paper. A dream day for both of us. We both changed into our outfits in the car… The build up and pampering is part of the photo session adventure for us. It makes the photos become more memorable because we invested time and energy into a whole day of fun.

Our photos were taken in and around Pyrmont by Casandra Anguita-Deep of Caspix Photography. I chose Cas for this year’s shoot as I liked her style of photography, plus she is the Vice-President of Heartfelt, a photographic charity that Paul and I have been supporting in our ‘other job’ for many years.

Tanya of Bodacious was really accommodating. I phoned her in desperation 4 days before the shoot to see if she was available for hair and make-up. Normally Tanya’s service is mobile, but she generously allowed me to be made up in her home studio (otherwise known as the upstairs bathroom). Nothing was too much trouble. She even managed to have enough Spak-filla to make this 41 year old look half decent.

We were with Caspix for a few hours and we hardly knew she was taking photos. To us it was like a really nice day out in Sydney. Paul and I renewed our vows to continue our tradition of photos together. We even managed a Celebrity spotting, when dreamy Dr Chris (Don Hany) from Offspring – Nina’s love interest, walked past *sigh*

Have a look and see what you think of the results of our Caspix Sunday Session.

Who will we pick as our Official Not our Wedding Photographer for 2012 with all that money we saved by running off to marry each other?
